Library & Research
Welcome to the Library
"When in doubt, go to the library." J.K. Rowling
Deer Creek is passionate about helping students use technology for learning, with research and to find new and creative ways to demonstrate their learning. The librarian can help students find a good book and troubleshoot their Chromebooks.
The mission of the Deer Creek Middle School (DCMS) Library is to provide space and resources for students to create, collaborate, think critically, do problem-solving and become lifelong learners.
Back to School Night presentation
The Back to School Night slides and videos in this presentation can be used as resources throughout the year to:
- Put a book on hold in the library system
- Understand Chromebook device care, the repair process and troubleshooting
- Find more information about the SecurlyHome app
Letter to parents
We would like to take this opportunity to describe the library collection in our middle school and explain how you can keep informed of the books your child is checking out from the school library.
As students move from elementary school to middle school, they have access to an expanded, more diverse and more mature library collection to serve the needs and interests of our middle school students. You may want to have a conversation with your student about choosing books that match both your child’s maturity level as well as your family’s values.
Log into Deer Creek’s library system using your student’s ID number and password. You can click on your student’s name in the upper right-hand corner to find information about what is currently checked out, holds, and a history of what your child has borrowed from the library. If you would like more information, please contact our school’s Digital Teacher-Librarian, Karrie Zanetti, for assistance.
We look forward to continuing to support your child’s curricular and independent reading choices.
Book Checkout
Books can be checked out anytime. Students can put a hold on books that will be brought to them during the school day. Watch the video to put a book on hold.
To put a book on hold:
- Go to the DCMS library catalog
- Log in to Jeffco with your student ID and password.
- Search for the book.
- Click hold.
- Mrs. Zanetti will email students when books are ready to be picked up.
